My Resolution

01 Jan

I don’t really believe in the whole New Year’s Resolution idea. I mean, no one keeps their resolution past the first month or so of the year. Last year I said I was going to cook different meals – try new foods – which I did…on New Year’s Day, then the rest of the year was back to our standard dinners.

But this year is different. This year I turn 30, and I’ve decided that this year is going to be about me.

My resolution is simple…RELAX.

I’m going to work a little less, relax a little more.

Do fun and crazy things that I’ve been too scared to do, whether for lack of money or fear of doing it, this year I’m going to do it!

I’m going to spend more time with my husband and step-son.

I’m learning that turning 30 is really just like the Tim McGraw song says, “Make up for lost time here, in my next thirty years”

As you put your own life in perspective this year, think about what this song says. It really is what I’m talking about.

I think I’ll take a moment, celebrate my age
The ending of an era and the turning of a page
Now it’s time to focus in on where I go from here
Lord have mercy on my next thirty years

Hey my next thirty years I’m gonna have some fun
Try to forget about all the crazy things I’ve done
Maybe now I’ve conquered all my adolescent fears
And I’ll do it better in my next thirty years

My next thirty years I’m gonna settle all the scores
Cry a little less, laugh a little more
Find a world of happiness without the hate and fear
Figure out just what I’m doing here
In my next thirty years

Oh my next thirty years, I’m gonna watch my weight
Eat a few more salads and not stay up so late
Drink a little lemonade and not so many beers
Maybe I’ll remember my next thirty years

My next thirty years will be the best years of my life
Raise a little family and hang out with my wife
Spend precious moments with the ones that I hold dear
Make up for lost time here, in my next thirty years
In my next thirty years

So be prepared…the things I’m planning this year, just might surprise you.

Happy New Year Everybody!
